Contrary to popular beliefs, the Bible teaches that the wicked will be destroyed at the end of time, not condemned to a place of eternal torment. Also the Bible clearly teaches that the dead are “dead”, and not alive as Satan has tried to fool everyone into believing.

Please don’t get me wrong, there will be a fire, but the Bible does not teach that there is a fire going on now that will never ever burn out. This will be a totally surprising statement to some, however, please read on with an open sincere heart and Yahweh will guide you into the truth.

Christians teach the lie that the Father will torture the lost forever
Christians will try to teach you the lie that the Father will painfully torture the lost forever!

Yahweh is not some monster that some people paint Him out to be. The withdrawal of life [death] is the wages of sin, not some horrible revenge burning in agony for all time from Yahweh onto those who didn’t accept Yahshua. John 3:36 says those who reject Yahshua will not see life! [death].

So why so much confusion? The answer is simply in the English translations and from false teachings from the Pope and Christians. In the Hebrew and Greek mind and thought, there is no such thing as a burning hell!

There are “4” totally different words in the Bible that have been translated into the one English word “hell”. One must ask why? These words are “Sheol” which is Hebrew and appears in the Old Testament, and “Hades, “Tartaroo” and “Gehenna” in the New Testament.

I will start with the Old Testament and the word “Sheol”. In its 65 occurrences in the OT, Sheol has been given 3 different and actually contradictory renderings. e.g. In the Authorised Version “Sheol” is 27 times rendered as “hell”, 35 times “the grave” and 3 “the pit”. Interestingly however and rightly so, in the NIV, hell does not appear once in the Old Testament. More on this below.

In the Hebrew mind, “Sheol” is a place of death, darkness & silence. In other words, the grave! But the English word “Hell” seems to mean some eternal burning place of agony, so can you see what has happened here? Satan has been able to fool billions of people with this!

The Hebrew word “Sheol” describes the unseen world, the world of all the dead. However, the English term “hell” has caused much confusion. Most modern translations have minimized using the term “hell” in the OT and have more accurately opted to literally transliterate the Hebrew term into English. Hence, the Revised Standard Version (RSV) together with most modern translations have placed the word “Sheol” into the English text.

Even the NKJV has followed suite so as to not give a misleading idea as to the biblical view on the place of the departed dead. Compare the KJV with the RSV and NKJV in the following verses: Isaiah 28 :18; Jonah 2:1-2. In fact compare these verses with the NIV and you will see that it goes one step further and interprets the word as “grave”. This is a legitimate translation since the grave is the place to which all go upon death, and not some burning hellfire which was Satan’s invention from the beginning.

Even Strongs Concordance to the Bible, bears this point out,
Sheol. . . the world of the dead. . .grave, hell, pit.
Strongs Concordance Hebrew Dictionary #7585 p. 111

So it’s clear, only in the English mind and thought, and from the false teachings from the Pope and Christians comes the idea and view of some burning hell with a two horned devil looking over the fire at the people burning continuously. So where does this view come from anyways? Where did the concept originate that portrays the devil as a red, half-man and half beast with horns and tail, and the view and belief of some burning hell that never goes out? Answer: It came from Pagan Mythology and by invention from none other than Satan.

The Serpent deceived Adam and Eve.

The view that there is a literal hell burning comes from Pagan traditions and beliefs, and does not come from the Bible. In fact, this view stems directly from Satan’s first lie in the Garden of Eden. [Gen 3:4] “You will not surely die,” the Serpent said to the woman.

So nowhere does the Old Testament talk of “Sheol” as a place of life! There is only one place in the OT that speaks of “Sheol” as a place of life in the entire OT, and that is in a parable. [14:4-11], and being a parable is not valid to make literal! Only in the poetical imagery of Isaiah [14:4-11] is “Sheol” said to perform acts of the living. Purely and clearly figurative. And Isaiah [14:4-11] is to be understood and treated as a parable, meant to portray and enforce a moral lesson (not literal). No-one denies that parables are only symbolic and figurative, otherwise we would have to believe that there are literal talking trees. [Judges 9:8-15].

Very interesting also is the fact the NIV translators have translated the word “Sheol’ to grave [Isa 14:9] as it rightly should be. So with that in mind, not one place in the entire Old Testament [OT] does it speak of life in the [Sheol – grave]! So, the word “hell” does not appear once in the OT in the NIV. In the KJV it does, but the word “Sheol” is behind these and we now know that Sheol is simply the grave and the Bible teaches us that there is no life there.

So there is no such thing as a burning “Hell” with life taught in the entire Old Testament. I challenge to look for yourselves in the King James Version in [Deu 32:22, 2Sam 22:6, Ezra 10:35, Psa 9:17, 16:10, 18:5, 55:15, 86:13, 116:3, 139:8, Job 11:8, 26:6, Prov 5:5, 7:27, 9:18, 15:11, 15:24, 23:14, 27:20, Ezek 31:16, 31:17, 32:21, 32:27, Hab 2:5, Isa 5:14, 14:9, 14:15, 28:15, 28:18, 57:9, Jonah 2:2, Amos 9:2]

Now, you might be asking yourself, why is the English word hell in so many places in the KJV OT, and not in one place in the NIV…. Answer: Because the NIV translators weren’t all immortal Soulists [those who believe in a burning hell and that some soul never dies which was derived originally from Satan and through Greek philosophy], and so therefore they did not translate over from the original manuscripts with the presumption of some hellfire burning. If you could read fluent Hebrew, you would easily see that there is no talk of any life whatsoever in those verses that Sheol appears.

But what about the New Testament? The word “hell” occurs only 14 times in the New Testament (New International Version), and only in 2 cases does it refer to “a place of burning.”, and this always refers to the 2nd death [Rev 2:11, 20:6,14, 21:8], which hasn’t happened yet..it’s future!

So it is impossible that there is a fire going on now!  The New Testament only speaks of fire at the second death, and this is not burning now! In fact in the Koine Greek there is never such confusions.

As I mentioned earlier, there will be a fire, but this hasn’t happened yet and when it does it will not burn for eternity! (More on this below). And this fire won’t occur till the time when the wicked will be destroyed with fire and this fire will go out. There will be a brief fire upon the wicked also at Yahshua’s advent, however this fire will put the wicked to sleep for the 1000 years, till they are resurrected at the 2nd resurrection (Rev 20:5-9). Also for more reading on the 2nd death, please read – Rev 2:11, 20:6, 20:14, 21:8.

The Bible says the wicked , suffer “death” (Romans 6:23) , suffer “destruction” (Job 21:30), “shall perish” (Psalm 37:20), will “burn” up [Not a root or a branch will be left to them.] (Malachi 4:1), “shall be destroyed together” (Psalm 37:38), the wicked shall not be (Psa 37:10), will “consume away” (Psalm 37:20), “shall be cut off” (Psalm 37:9), “shall be slain” (Psalm 62:3), Yahweh will “destroy” them (Psalm 145:20), “fire shall devour them” (Psalm 21:9) They shall be as though they had not been. (Oba 1:16), they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish (Isa 41:11), the wicked be no more (Psa 104:35), the wicked no more (Pro 10:25), forever destroyed (Psa 92:7).

In no way should these clear words be misunderstood by one who honestly desires to know truth. There is a fire reserved for the wicked, but a fire so hot it will utterly destroy all who are engulfed by it. When the fire has done its work, it will go out! Eternally burning fire is not taught anywhere in the Bible–not even in the story of the Rich man and Lazarus. The English word eternal[ Greek “aionios”] does not always mean unending in the Bible. This I will clearly show in a few moments.

The thought of Yahweh being a vile monster taking revenge on those who don’t accept Yahshua is totally foreign to the Hebrew and Greek mind!

My mind fails to conceive a grosser misinterpretation of language than when the 5 or 6 strongest words which the Greek tongue possesses, signifying “destroy” or “destruction” are explained to mean maintaining an everlasting but wretched existence. Strange contention of some that to “perish” is in fact “to live on forever.”

No word in Greek tongue is more significant of the utter loss of existence than “apoleia and apollumi”

John 3:16 For Yahweh so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish [apollumi], but have everlasting life.

John 3:36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for Yahweh’s wrath remains on him.”

Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

Ezekiel 18:4 For every living soul belongs to me, the father as well as the son–both alike belong to me. The soul who sins is the one who will die.
Ezekiel 18:20 The soul who sins is the one who will die. The son will not share the guilt of the father, nor will the father share the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous man will be credited to him, and the wickedness of the wicked will be charged against him.

To die [Hebrew – mut] applies to man in totality and means “death”, withdrawal of life. Look in any Hebrew Lexicon and you will clearly see the true meaning of “mut”. Some people try to tell me that it only refers to the body and not some immortal soul that floats on after death. Well, Ezekiel 18:4,20 shows us clearly that the soul dies!

Soul is simply man in his totality. We are souls, we don’t possess a separate soul. The teaching of some immortal soul that floats out of the body at death is not Biblical, and once again comes from Satan’s deceptions. I will be discussing soul in more detail in just a few moments.

12 times that hell occurs in the New Testament it is from the word “Gehenna,” which means “the place of burning, and which burned out!

But what was and what does Gehenna mean? The Greek word “Gehenna” is a transliteration of the Hebrew “Ge-Hinnom,” which means the “Valley of Hinnom.” This literal valley, which lies immediately south and west of Jerusalem, was a place where dead animals garbage, and other refuse were dumped. Fire burned constantly, as it does at modern sanitation dump sites. The Bible uses “Gehenna” or the “Valley of Hinnom” as a symbol of the fire that will destroy the lost at the end of time. The fire of Gehenna was not unending. Otherwise it would be still burning southwest of Jerusalem today. Neither will the fire of hell be unending.

Gehenna is the place of final punishment (second death – Rev 21:8) which occurs after judgment of the wicked.

Gehenna is the Greek term denoting the NT place of destruction and here there is mention of fire. See Matt 18:9; Mark 9: 43,45,47. It occurs 12 times in the NT (NIV) and this has been translated as “hell” as I have covered. This in an oversimplification for the original term although denoting a place of punishment does not equate with the modern English term “hell”. The modern conception does not ally itself with the biblical picture.

When Yahshua used the term “Gehenna”, his hearers clearly understood it to be a rubbish dump, situated south/west of Jerusalem where refuse and the bodies of criminals were burnt. Since rubbish and dead criminals’ bodies were continuously added, the fires were perpetually flamed and kept alight. However, individual bodies did not burn endlessly, they became ashes!

Yahshua will destroy all traces of sin that has made this world so horrible.

The popular position also holds that the fires of hell have been in existence for millennia past and will exist for endless ages to come. In the parable of the wheat and the weeds Yahshua unequivocally teaches us that the fires are not yet burning: “just as the weeds are gathered together and burned with fire, so it will be at the end of the world.” ( Matt 13: 40). Hence, no-one is yet in Gehenna-fire.

“Tartaroo” – This word occurs once in the NT. See 2 Pet 2:4. This verse does not mention any fire, nor that any humans are there or will go there. In fact it is a place of judgment in darkness; a place reserved for evil angels where they await the judgment. Unfortunately it has also been translated as “hell” and has caused confusion.

“Hades” – is the Greek equivalent of Sheol. An interesting point at this stage is to note that Hades cannot be the place of hell-fire since the KJV clearly says that hell itself (Hades) will be cast in to the lake of fire! How can this be so? If Hades (hell in the KJV) is fire how can it be cast into itself? See Rev 20:14.

There is only one passage where fires are associated with Hades and that is in Luke 16:23. However, this passage is a parable and so in itself cannot be regarded as doctrinally definitive. So many people believe this to be literal, but it’s not literal, it’s a parable, and should be treated as such.

So, to use immediate life at death or Luke 16:19-31 as proof that men receive their rewards at death is squarely to contradict himself who explicitly states that the righteous and wicked receive their reward “when he comes back” The judgment day is yet to come! So how can anyone be in some “hell” today? That would have to mean that they have already been judged! But how can this be? Judgment day has not yet come!

Only in the poetical imagery of Isaiah [14:4-11] and the parable of the Rich man and Lazarus are those committed to “Sheol” or “Hades” said to perform acts of the living. Purely and clearly figurative. The clear must always explain the obscure. Luke 16:19-31 is an illustrative parable, not a biographical sketch. It is to be understood and treated as a parable, meant to portray and enforce a moral lesson. (NOT literal) So there we have the facts! Millions of people will tell you that there is a literal hell and all this comes from one parable! Very sad indeed how these people believe a LIE!

They sweep aside all other clear verses that teach otherwise, for a parable. This truly makes me wonder how Satan can have such a strong hold over these people! How can someone truly in love with Yahweh sweep aside all the clear verses for one parable? If I personally believed in some never ending hell like some people do, this would definitely affect my personal relationship with Yahweh in a negative way.

If Yahweh tortured His enemies in a fiery horror chamber throughout eternity, He would be more vicious and heartless than men have ever been in the worst of war atrocities. An eternal hell of torment would be hell for Yahweh also, who loves even the vilest sinner. Sin will be “no more”! Yahweh’s universe will be clean. If sinners existed for ever in some horrible fire with burning molten lava rushing through their veins, then sin would for ever be existent in the universe! But Yahweh will have a sin free universe as He has promised.

On that note, please let me ask you something; If you had a child and your child hit you and stabbed you and nearly killed you and they were a very evil, and they were arrested, and you had only two choices or options between putting them to sleep for ever or pouring petrol over them and letting them burn in agony for ever if possible! Which one would you choose? Could you be able to stand back and see your own lost child who became lost in the world, scream in agony forever burning with fire?

You only have two options! Which one you choose? Eternal sleep or eternal agony for your lost child?

Could you stand back even for two minutes and watch your own lost child burn on fire in agony?

Answer: Of course any parent would say eternal sleep, and totally reject eternal agony and torment.

So being sinners as we are, you truly believe our loving Yahweh would choose more evil than us? Answer: Of course not! The truth is already in our hearts regarding this, so please seek it.

Psalms 37:20 But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of Yahweh shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.

The truth is simply that the fire will burn the wicked till they are no more. The whole being will be put into an eternal sleep.

But doesn’t the English Bible talk of an eternal fire? Matthew 25:41,46 speaks of “everlasting fire” and “everlasting punishment” for the wicked. Does it go out?

Answer: Yes, according to the English Translation Bible, it does. But we must keep in mind that the Bible wasn’t originally written in English, and also, there are numerous places in English Bible where “everlasting and forever” have ended. We must let the Bible explain itself.

Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed with “everlasting”, or “eternal”, fire (Jude 7), and that fire turned these cities “into ashes” as a warning to “those that should live unholy lives.” These cities are not burning today. The fire went out after everything was burned up. With reference to these two cities, Peter says that they burnt until they became ashes. 2 Pet 2:6. Jeremiah goes onto say they these cities burnt for a moment!! Lam 4:6.

What does all this mean? Well, it simply means this….eternal in the Bible does not always mean for ever and ever, and Jude 7 clearly shows us this! Read Jude 7 carefully for yourself, and you will clearly see what I mean. Then refer to 2 Peter 2:6 and Lamentations 4:6

“Forever”, “eternal” and “everlasting” in the Bible doesn’t always mean endless! There are over 50 times forever and ever, eternal and everlasting have been used to things in Bible which has already come to pass and that have already ended!

The problem lies in English translations! In the original languages eternal fire is a foreign thought.

The Greek word for everlasting or eternal is the adjective “aionios” derived from the noun “aion” which means an “age” or “era”. The word itself leaves the time limit of the age undefined. (Aion, Aionios) is 42 times rendered “eternal” and 25 times “everlasting”

The term “for ever,” (aion and aionios) as used in the Bible, means simply a period of time, limited or unlimited. It is used 56 times in the Bible in connection with things that have already ended! So it can’t mean eternal as we have been brought up to believe the English word means. It is like the word “tall,” which means something different in describing men, trees, or mountains.

In Jonah 2:6, “for ever” means “three days and nights.” (See also Jonah 1:17). In Deuteronomy 23:3, this means “10 generations.” In the case of man, this means “as long as he lives” or “until death.” (See 1 Samuel 1:22,28; Exodus 21:6; Psalm 48:14.) So the wicked will burn in the fire as long as they live, or until death.

This fiery punishment for sin will vary according to the degree of sins for each individual, but after the punishment, the fire will go out. The teaching of eternal torment has done more to drive people to atheism and insanity than any other invention of the devil. It is slander upon the loving character of a tender, gracious Heavenly Father Yahweh and has done untold harm to the truth.

For another example, Paul says that the runaway slave Onesimus would return back home where he would be received “forever”. (KJV Philemon 15) Surely Onesimus is not still there today 2000 years later? Forever here clearly means his lifetime and hence the NIV translation, “have him back for good”.

The Bible says that King David was to be king “forever”. 1 Chron 28:2,4. Later this “forever” is specified as 40 years. He ruled over Israel forty years–seven in Hebron and thirty-three in Jerusalem 1Chron 29:27. As we can see David is still not reigning today, and “forever” here simply meant for 40 years!

Hannah offered her son Samuel to the Yahshua’s service in the temple “forever” See 1 Sam 1:22. This passage is explicit in that it qualifies this period as being “all the days of his life” (verse 11), “as long as he lives” (verse 28) For Jonah, his stay in the fish’s stomach was “forever” according to the KJV. In the very next verse however, this “forever” is depicted in terms of “three days”. See Jonah 2:5-6. In Deut 23:3,6 “forever” is equated with ten generation.

So we can clearly see that in the Bible “forever” and “eternal” does not always mean endless! Once again, the problem lies in the English translations.

There are Greek words that do stand for endless, but such words aren’t used in the New Testament.

What about the unquenchable fires? Yahshua taught that the fire of hell to come at the second death [Gehenna] could not be quenched or put out by anyone. Isaiah said “they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame.” Isaiah 47:14. Unquenchable fire is fire that cannot be put out, but which goes out when it has turned everything to ashes. Jeremiah 17:27 says Jerusalem was to be destroyed with unquenchable fire, and in 2 Chronicles 36:19-21 the Bible says this fire burned the city “to fulfill the word of Yahshua by the mouth of Jeremiah” and left it desolate. Yet we know this fire went out, because Jerusalem is not burning today. Please read this next verse carefully. It talks about the city of Edom (NIV). KJV has it as Idumea. [Isa 34:6] Both translations are talking about the same city.

Isaiah 34:10 It shall not be quenched night nor day; the smoke thereof shall go up for ever: from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it for ever and ever.

Is the smoke of Edom still going up and up today? It says that Edom shall not be quenched night or day, but is it still burning today? No, of course not! Edom is not burning today with never ending smoke.

Now, please read the immediate following verse;

Isa 34:11 But the cormorant and the bittern shall possess it; the owl also and the raven shall dwell in it: and he shall stretch out upon it the line of confusion, and the stones of emptiness.

How can this be if we are to take verse 10 as meaning endless?

Can you clearly see now? For ever and ever and eternal and unquenchable in the Bible does not mean what a lot of us have been programmed to believe. The problem is simply in the English translation and this has caused much confusion.

Bottom line is that the flames and worms of Gehenna represented the total annihilation and obliteration of sin and sinners. What the fires didn’t consume, the worms would eat up after the fires went out. With the fires of Gehenna burning before their eyes Yahshua could not have spoken a more graphic word to the Pharisees to describe the final total destruction of sinners.

Surely you don’t believe Yahshua, at his second coming, will resurrect all the worms throughout history and give them eternal life and immortality? Of course not!

What about eternal life for the saved then? In John 6:47-51 Yahshua said, “he who believes in me has eternal life . . . and not die. . . he will live forever. . .” Here “eternal life” is qualified with “never die” so this “eternal” is a period which does not end. Nonetheless, it is a period of time; the life of the age to come. In fact, the context is clear that Yahshua connects this “eternal life” and “not die” with the resurrection of the last day.

This eternal life qualitatively, will then become eternal life quantitatively. See John 6: 39,40,44,54. This is because at that point Yahweh grants the saved “immortality”. See 1 Cor 15:51-54. The Greek word for “immortality” in this passage is [“aphtharsia”] and according to Strong’s Concordance and any Greek Concordance, this word means “unending existence, deathlessness”. However, this deathlessness is in connection with the body and not some disembodied spirit.

No immortality = No life whatsoever!

Immortality is only joined and connected with the saved and never with the lost, so hence, the lost cannot live forever but will die!

“Immortal” (aphthartos) is never joined with the Greek words for “soul”(psuche) or “spirit” (pneuma). Athanasia (immortality) or aphthartos (incorruptible) is never applied to man as a natural possession, and athanasia is never joined with soul of man. The point is this; the word “psuche” [soul] in the NT refers to “life” in general and in any specific part in terms of synecdoche. That is the particular part of the human person representing the “whole.”

So eternal life is endless and not subject to death because it is life in having a relationship with Yahshua, who says that the saved will never die because they believe and trust and follow him and also because he will raise them up to life at the last day and grant them deathlessness. The saved will be given Immortality only at the second advent and not before.

Only the saved and not the lost will live forever, and this will only be when we are given a new, perfect body. This view that some ghostly image floats away is not Biblical. Please don’t be fooled by Satan. Open your heart to Yahweh and His truth.

John 3:16 For Yahweh so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 3: 36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of Yahweh abideth on him.

But isn’t there an immortal soul? There is not a single statement in the Bible that says that man has a disembodied soul which is capable of consciousness and life apart from the body! The terms “immortal” and “soul” occur in the Bible but the term “immortal soul” nowhere occurs in Holy Scriptures! The closest that the bible comes in presenting man in connection with immortality is with reference to his body!

At creation Yahweh formed a man and he became a living soul, or as NIV has translated “a living being”. [Gen 2:7] So at creation only Yahweh’s breath [spirit] enters a person, and not some shadowy soul as millions believe. And at death, the spirit returns to Yahweh. [Ecc 12:7].

Soul is derived from the Hebrew [nephesh] and the Greek [psuche] and these words in their original languages simply mean the “person” as a whole being. There has been much confusion about “soul” and all this comes from the English translation problems. If you could read Hebrew and Koine Greek, you would not misunderstand this at all.

The Bible word soul mainly means “life.” For instance, Yahshua taught that “whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” Matthew 16:25, 26 (similarly translated in Mark 8:35-37). In this passage, Matthew wrote the same Greek word “psuche” four times, but the King James translators twice rendered it “life” and twice “soul.” You can see for yourself that the two words are interchangeable. And you can see, further, that “life” is not something naturally and irrevocably ours—we can lose it, for we’re not inherently immortal.

Paul says in Rom 2:7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life: Why seek immortality if we already have it? Answer: because we are mortal by birth. [1Cor 15:53] The word mortal means “subject to death,” and immortal means the opposite—imperishable. You don’t find the term “immortal soul” or “immortality of the soul” even once in the entire Bible! The Word of Yahweh doesn’t teach such a concept. The Bible uses the expressions “soul” and “spirit” more than 1,600 times, but never once attaches the term “immortal” to either word. If human beings really had an immortal soul or immortal spirit, don’t you think the Bible would use that term at least once out of 1,642 times?

Mankind has the promise of immortality—to be given to the faithful as a gift when Yahshua returns and not before. 1 Corinthians 15:51-53

Furthermore, the Bible never says a person has a soul that leaves the body at death—a conscious, feeling, thinking kind of an ethereal thing that floats away—that thought is derived from Satan’s deception. Satan has fooled billions of people with this deception and lie!

Soul [Hebrew-nephesh/Greek-psuche] = man in totality. Not a separate entity. Adam became a living being in total. Nowhere does it say in the Bible about a separate soul entering the man at birth or leaving the body at death. It simply is not Biblical!

A soul is a person, not something that floats out of the body.

So modern Bible versions render Ezekiel 18:4 as follows: “The person who sins is the one who will die.”—Today’s English Version. “It is for man’s own sins that he will die.”—The Living Bible. “The soul who sins will die.”—New American Standard Bible (a footnote on the word soul says “Person”)

A good example regarding soul is in Psalms 7:1-2 we read, “Deliver me: lest he tear my soul [nephesh] like a lion, rending it in pieces.”

Would anyone contend that the soul here mentioned is something “immaterial” and “immortal” that leaves the body at death? If so, how can it be torn by a lion? It is obvious that David is referring to his body, and not to some disembodied entity!.

A soul is a living being. A soul is always a combination of two things: body plus breath. A soul cannot exist unless body and breath are combined. Yahweh’s Word teaches that we are souls. Soul = man in his totality.

Only Yahweh is immortal [1 Timothy :15, 16]. The concept of an undying, immortal soul goes against the Bible, which teaches that souls are subject to death

Let me state unequivocally, however the word nephesh/psuche is translated it never means a disembodied spirit which continues its existence after death. This is an assumption read into the bible which found its origins within Greek philosophy and then infiltrated into Protestantism via Roman Catholicism. We can’t read into the scriptures things which simply isn’t there. The problem today is that so many are programmed and conditioned into thinking that all this is taught in the Bible, when it is simply not in the original languages of Holy Scripture!!!

The theory of the immortality of the soul mainly found its way into the Church via the Greek and pagan concepts of Plato. Plato maintained that man was a hybrid being – material (body) and spirit (soul). The latter was imprisoned inside the body and was released at death at which point it continued its existence, never seeing death.

The soul (psuche) is not a spiritual entity that enters the body at birth and leaves it at death. It is simply man in his totality. . . The NT does not teach immortality of the disembodied “soul” of Platonic thought. It’s pure Satan deception!

Soul is simply man in his totality. We are souls, we don’t possess souls.

How did Yahweh feel about the dead? Notice these statements from the book of Leviticus. “Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am Yahweh.” Leviticus 19:31. Again, “A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death.” Leviticus 20:27.

Now, why is Yahweh so opposed to this thing? Why such a severe penalty for engaging in spiritualistic seances? Because it is a lie and it is devil-inspired. It is unsound and anti-scriptural throughout. All who believe the dead are in fact alive will be deceived!

A Solemn Warning….in the end-time Satan will again use sorcery as he did in Daniel’s day to deceive the world (Revelation 18:23). Sorcery is a supernatural agency that claims to receive its power and wisdom from the spirits of the dead.

Posing as Yahshua’ Disciples, posing as ones who have died, saintly clergymen who are now dead, Bible prophets, or even the apostles or disciples of (2 Corinthians 11:13), Satan and his angels will deceive the majority of the world. Those who believe the dead are alive, in any form, will most assuredly be deceived!

So where are the dead then if not in heaven or hell? Death is a sleep until the resurrection day, an unconscious, dreamless sleep.

If we go straight to heaven when we die, what is the purpose of that glorious resurrection morning that the redeemed will experience? And what about the judgment? You mean judgment day takes places every time someone dies?

In Revelation 22:12 Yahshua makes very plain when the saints will receive their reward: “And, behold I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.”

Also, John 3:13 says: “And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.”

Obviously, we are rewarded when Yahshua returns to resurrect the righteous saints and take them to heaven.

The Bible clearly talks of death as a sleep state till the resurrection.

Psalms 13:3 Consider and hear me, O Yahweh our King: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;

Daniel 12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt

Job 7:21 And why dost thou not pardon my transgression, and take away mine iniquity? for now shall I sleep in the dust;

Job 14:10 But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?
Job 14:12 So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.

Acts 13:36 For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of Yahweh, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption

1 Corinthians 15:51 Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

1 Kings 2:10 So David slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David.

John 5:28 “Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice
John 5:29 and come out–those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned.

The dead cannot contact the living, nor do they know what the living are doing. They are dead. Their thoughts have perished (Psalm 146:4).

Ecclesiastes 9:5 For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing;

Ecclesiastes 9:6 Their love, their hate and their jealousy have long since vanished; never again will they have a part in anything that happens under the sun.

Ecclesiastes 9:10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the grave, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.

The dead will sleep until the great day of Yahshua at the end of the world. In death, humans are totally unconscious with no activity or knowledge of any kind.

There would be no purpose in a resurrection if people were taken to heaven at death.

John 3:13 No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven–the Son of Man.

The thought and belief that the dead are in fact alive is one of the cornerstones of the devil’s kingdom. He has worked powerful miracles down through the ages through people who claim to receive their power from the spirits of the dead. (Examples: Magicians of Egypt Exodus 7:11; Woman of Endor 1 Samuel 28:3-25; Sorcerers Daniel 2:2; A certain damsel Acts 16:16-18.)

The dead are sleeping. They are not conscious at all. There is no communication between the living and the dead. Only by believing the Bible truth can we escape the deceptions of Satanism and Spiritualism.

The Bible teaches that death is but a sleep that lasts until ‘s second coming. More than fifty times, Bible writers consistently describe death as a sleep. Writing under inspiration, the Psalmist David prayed to Yahweh lest he “sleep the sleep of death.” Psalm 13:3. Later, 1 Kings 2:1 and 10 say: “Now the days of David drew nigh that he should die…So David slept with his fathers, and was buried.” Yahshua Himself spoke of death as a sleep.

Then Yahshua said, in John 11:11-14 (RSV), when His beloved friend Lazarus grew very sick in a nearby town, “‘Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I go to awake him out of sleep.’ The disciples, said to Him, ‘Yahshua, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover.’ Now Yahshua had spoken of his death, but they thought that He meant taking rest in sleep. Then Yahshua told them plainly, ‘Lazarus is dead.”,

Fallen asleep (“keomaomai”) Lazarus was sleeping, not singing praises in heaven when called him. He was in a sleep state (koimao – to lie down in sleep) and the Yahshua awakened him (exupnizo – arouse).

“eiro” (to awaken – to rouse from sleep – to raise) is used by John in referring to the “raising” of Lazarus. “anastasis” (standing up), occurs 42 times and is always translated “resurrection”

“Anistemi” (stand up, raise up, rise, to arise) occurs 111 times and is referred to resurrection 35 times.

Also, when Stephen was stoned to death in Acts 7:60, his spirit went back to Yahweh and he fell asleep into the sleep of death awaiting the resurrection.

When a person dies, his body goes to the earth and his spirit (or breath) goes back to Yahweh who gave it. [Ecc 12:7] Then he sleeps in a perfectly restful, dreamless sleep. There’s no more pain, no more suffering, no more heartache, no more sorrow. It’s as if we rest in Yahweh’s arms till He taps us on the shoulder and says, “Wake up, my child it’s time to go home!”

“Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.” – Isayah 26:19

Yahweh’s way is so much better than Satan’s lie.

Please pray to Yahweh about this. Those who believe the dead are in fact alive will be deceived by Satan’s lies and especially his last attack in the end time. Those who believe the dead are alive have been deceived all around the world for centuries with mediums and spiritualists etc.

Those who believe that Yahweh is nothing more than a vile monster who burns the wicked in revenge for not accepting Yahshua in some never ending fire, cannot have a true loving personal relationship with our wonder Father in heaven.

Please do not believe people who claim to love Yahweh (the deceivers also call him by false names such as God, Lord or Jesus), yet on the other hand they claim He is no more than a horrible monster. Satan has them sadly fooled. Seek the truth for yourself and please don’t rely on what others tell you.

To illustrate how graphic some ministers become in their altar-call presentations (and how far from the Bible they digress), allow me to quote from a tract published a few years back and recommended especially valuable for children. “The sinner lies chained down on a bed of red-hot blazing fire. . . .All the body is salted with fire. The fire burns through every bone and every muscle, every nerve is trembling and quivering with the sharp fire. The fire rages inside the skull, it shoots out through the eyes, it drops out through the ears, it roars in the throat as it roars up a chimney. So will mortal sin be punished.” The author’s name, is J. Furniss.

Teachings such as those, both past and present, are so sad and grossly distort Yahweh’s nature and misconstrue His motives. Admittedly the Scriptures do claim, “Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith Yahweh” (Romans 12:19). The word here and elsewhere translated “vengeance” comes from edikesis, a Greek word meaning “vindication,” or “retribution.”

Vengeance as used in the Scriptures must not be confused with revenge, an English word that indicates a desire to “get even,” “to retaliate against someone for wrongs he or she has committed against an individual,” or “to get satisfaction of a grudge by inflicting injury.”

Revenge involves a vindictiveness, a rancor, or a vendetta. Such motives are completely alien to Yahweh’s nature. He does not store up hatred against sinners and then unleash that hostility and animosity by sentencing sinners to roast eternally over the iron spits of hell

. Yahweh is “not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9).

The objective of punishment is to redirect behaviour, but with eternal punishment, there is no opportunity to redirect behaviour, so there would be no benefit in eternally punishing anyone, unless of course you were a sadistic and evil monster, which Yahweh is not!

Yahweh’s vengeance, mentioned many times in Scripture, is the inexorable execution of divine justice. It stems not from His anger but from His absolute purity. Sin and sinners cannot survive in the presence of absolute holiness, just as darkness is obliterated by light. “Our Yahweh is a consuming fire,” declared the author of Hebrews, in chapter 12, verse 29. Yahweh demonstrated that fact in a small way at mount Sinai (see Exodus 24:17) and will do so in a much greater way at the end of time (Psalm 50:3).

Yahweh’s vengeance, or wrath, will result in the complete destruction of the wicked, not their eternal torture.

Many passages of Scripture attest to the complete annihilation of the wicked in the lake of fire [Gehenna] as I have clearly shown:

“By the blast of Yahweh they perish, and by the breath of his nostrils are they consumed.” “let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more.” “And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake Yahweh shall be consumed.” “but the wicked shall perish, . . .they shall be consumed; into smoke shall they consume away” (Job 4:9; Psalm 104:35; Isaiah 1:28; Psalm 37:20).

Whatever one comes to believe about hell, about the fires of hell, that belief must take into consideration the content of the above texts, as well as many others.

If the wicked burn forever, how can Psalm 104:35 declare, “Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more”? The Scriptures cannot contradict themselves. The solution must be in our interpretation or application of texts, which seem on the surface to present an opposing position.

The true fate of the wicked contrary to the popular teachings, will be a fire that Yahweh sends down upon the lost at the end of time and this fire will completely devour all the wicked (Revelation 20:9). It will cleanse the earth of every taint of sin and even burn up the very elements of the earth (2 Peter 3:10-12). It will make the way open for Yahweh to create a new heaven and a new earth (2 Peter 3:13; Revelation 21:1).

NOTE: In Revelation 20:10, it says, “And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.”  Yet the Greek word under “ever and ever” is aion, which as shown before, can mean an “age” according to the Greek Strong’s Lexicon, and the exact same Greek word that has been used in Revelation 20:10, has been used in other verses for things that have ENDED!!! So it does not mean ETERNAL in Revelation 20:10, because we also learn in Hebrews 2:14, that the Devil shall be DESTROYED, so it’s impossible that the Devil shall live forever!  The Greek word for “destroy” in Hebrews 2:14 for the Devil, is “katargeo”, which according to the Greek Strong’s Lexicon means “CEASE, do away with, vanish away”, and that’s exactly what will happen to the Devil, he will be destroyed and vanish in the lake of fire and become ashes!

The wicked shall be destroyed in this fire (Psalm 145:20); they will die (Ezekiel 18:4); they will perish (John 3:16); they will be cut off (Psalm 37:28); they will be consumed (Psalm 37:20); they will be burned up (Psalm 97:3); and they shall be no more (Psalm 37:10).

It is the conclusion then that hell, as popularly believed and taught, is the doctrine of the Devil and not of Yahweh. It is contrary to what the Bible teaches about Yahweh. It is inconsistent with every reason that can be mustered in favor of it. It is against the teachings of the original Holy Scripture. And it is merely an extension of the first lie that Satan gave to Eve in the Garden of Eden: “And the serpent said unto the woman, ye shall not surely die” (Gen 3:4).

Satan’s great lie, that when you die you really don’t die, but you keep on living forever in hell—has been perpetuated from pulpits century after century down through the ages since time began.

Yet, upon the broad foundation of this single lie, false teachers have created such great theological institutions as purgatory, indulgences, prayers to dead saints, communication with the dead (i.e., spiritualism), and eternal torment for the wicked in some hellfire.

It’s time we laid this abominable doctrine aside and placed our trust in the true teachings of Yahweh’s Word. Thank Yahweh that His plan for eliminating sin from the universe far surpasses man’s plans.

Ten reasons to reject eternal torment:

Many ministers believe that when the wicked die they pass into hell, there to suffer endless torture by a vengeful Creator.

Here are ten reasons why true believers who truly study the Holy Scriptures should reject such a doctrine.

1. We reject the teaching of eternal torment because it claims that the lost will continue living forever, which is contrary to Scripture’s plainest testimony: “He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of Yahweh hath not life” (1 John 5:12). “The soul that sinneth, it shall die” (Ezekiel 18:20).

2. We reject the teaching of eternal torment because it robs us of our Father in heaven of love and substitutes a Father who is a monster whose wrath is never appeased. But Yahweh is “not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9).

3. We reject the teaching of eternal torment because it cannot be reconciled with the picture the Bible gives of. Yahshua said, “suffer [allow] little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 19:14). Could this Messiah, who gathered little children in His arms and blessed them while here on earth, take other little children and torture them throughout eternity? The obvious answer is no!

4. We reject the teaching of eternal torment because the redeemed, who will have a part in the final judgment, could never condemn their fellow creatures—their relatives, grandparents, parents, husbands, wives, and children—to unending torture. Their sense of justice could never permit such an atrocity and evil revenge. “Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?” (1 Corinthians 6:2).

5. We reject the teaching of eternal torment because it imposes a punishment all out of proportion to the crimes committed and thus violates the infinite justice of Yahweh. “But we are sure that the judgment of Yahweh is according to truth against them which commit such things” (Romans 2:2). “I judge: and my judgment is just” (John 5:30), tells us.

6. We reject the teaching of eternal torment because it would forever cast a shadow over the happiness of the redeemed to know that somewhere in the universe their own relatives—their flesh and blood—were being tortured, tormented, and toasted over undying flames. But “Yahweh shall wipe away all tears from their eyes” (Revelation 7:17). And according to the people who believe that the Rich man and Lazarus is literal, then it would mean that the ones in heaven can see the lost being fried and burned for eternity! Where is the objective of this?

7. We reject the teaching of eternal torment because it demands that an eternal plague of sin taint Yahweh’s universe and makes it impossible for Yahweh to eradicate sin completely from his universe: “Through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil” (Hebrews 2:14). “And then shall that wicked be revealed, whom Yahshua shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming” (2 Thessalonians 2:8). (Ezekiel 28:18-19).

8. We reject the teaching of eternal torment because it perpetuates and immortalizes sin, suffering, sorrow, and pain, and thus it contradicts and nullifies Yahweh’s promises that these things will no more exist: “And there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away” (Revelation 21:4).

9. We reject the teaching of eternal torment because it vilifies Yahweh’s character and turns Him into a monstrous agent of Satan—a miracle worker who keeps the wicked alive moment by moment in a fire that burns but cannot consume, that tortures but cannot destroy. Yahweh would have to sustain the lives of the lost in an aimless and endless punishment. Hence Yahweh would in reality become worse than Satan himself. Instead, “upright and kind are you Yahweh…” (Psalm 25:8); “O taste and see that Yahweh is righteous” (Psalm 34:8).

The saved will once again get access to the tree of life (KJV – Rev 22:14) Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

So how can the wicked live for ever and possess immortality when they do not have access to the tree of life? And without access to the tree of life, the lost cannot live forever in some fire, as there will be no tree of life there.

10. We reject the teaching of eternal torment because of the fruit it has brought forth here on earth. It has caused untold billions of people to turn their backs on Yahweh and become His bitterest opponents.

Moreover, it has caused many others to do unspeakable things to their fellow humans in the name of “God or Jesus”. Many who led out in the infamous inquisition of Europe and the witch-hunts of early America were religious men who believed they were carrying out the will of Yahweh. These devout persecutors tortured heretics in order to save their souls from eternal damnation in the flames of hell.

We totally reject there is an unending hell, because this is not a teaching from the Bible and is an invention of Satan.  Christians and the Pope preach a false Creator called God and Lord and a false Messiah called Jesus, and claim they will burn the lost forever in complete torment and torture!  Anyone who loves and seeks truth, will renounce such lies, and instead follow the true Scriptures, Yahweh and the Messiah named Yahshua.
